Be the Change You Wish to See in the World

On Friday Oct.30th, from 12noon to 7pm, there will be a rally on the front steps of the Scandling Center on the HWS Campus to address the recent incident involving the HWS Crew team and a racially-insensitive costume event.

All interested students are invited to attend.

HWS Soccer in the Liberty League Tournament

Check out the updated sports page for the latest news on the playoff picture for both Hobart Statesmen and William Smith Herons playoff action!

Both the Statesmen and Herons are in the Liberty League tournament for soccer! Hobart plays Hamilton at home on Tuesday Nov.3rd at 1:30pm. William Smith plays Union at home on Wednesday Nov.4th at 1:30pm.

Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday at 2am

World Cafe & David Dye Comes to Ithaca, Goes to Eleven!

On November 11th, our sister station WEOS Goes to Eleven with THREE special events!
  • An Afternoon with David Dye - from approximately 12 Noon to 2pm (exact times TBD) David Dye, the host of NPR's World Cafe will host a reception and book-signing at the Cinemapolis of Ithaca, right off the Commons. David will talk about his 20+ year history as one of the country's premier radio DJ's, there will be munchies and copies of David's book: The Best of World Cafe - Great Conversations from NPR's Most Popular Contemporary Music Show will be available for sale and signing by David! Tickets are $20 each and are limited to 150 persons total. And everyone who buys a ticket is entered into the sweepstakes! What sweepstakes? Read on...
  • World Cafe episode taping - around 4pm, David will host a live taping of World Cafe at The State Theater with musical guest Lyle Lovett and His Large Band! This is a very exclusive chance to see David at work and be part of the national phenomena that is the World Cafe. On October 9th from 2-4pm, our sister station, WEOS 89.7FM, hosted a special live broadcast of NPR's Science Friday from Bailey Hall at Cornell University. 850 people joined us in the hall for a great show!

Cool Holiday Earrings!

In addition to all the great things she does at WHWS, our Promotions Director also hand-makes nifty little earrings! She makes acorn earrings (left), pumpkin earrings (right), hamburger earrings and a few other kinds...and they are now for sale in the HWS College Bookstore on St.Clair Street in Geneva...or you can get them online at the La Vie store!

Dr. Cornel West on WEOS - Monday Oct.5 @ 7:30pm

Tune in to our sister station 89.7FM WEOS - Finger Lakes Public Radio - at 7:30pm of October 5th for the President's Forum Series first speaker this semester: Dr. Cornel West, Class of 1943 University Professor at Princeton University, where he teaches in the Center for African American Studies and in the department of Religion.

Please note: this lecture will be held at The Smith Opera House, 82 Seneca Street in downtown Geneva. Admission is free, and there's plenty of parking across the street.
