Football PreGameShow on WHWS - Sept.25th @ 5:30pm

New for 2010: Boswell Field
Check out some pics of the tent and the show!

In honor of homecoming weekend, and the first ever night football game at The Boz, WHWS will broadcast a special Pre-Game Show starting at 5:30pm and running until live coverage of the Hobart / St. John Fisher football game begins on our sister station, WEOS 89.7FM (in other words, about 6:45pm, give or take).

Hosted by our crack sportscasting team of Will Wetzel, Mackenzie Larsen, Don Lappe and Joe Lasky...we'll have an extensive breakdown on the 2-0 Statesmen football season to date, with wins over Dickinson and Carnegie Mellon that were perhaps expected, but nonetheless provided some pleasant surprises in breakout performances from first years Steven Webb (runningback) and Devon Worthington (linebacker).

Plus the Statesmen's prospects against a dominant 3-0 SJFC Cardinals who, so far, have put the hurt on Brockport (55-12), Buff State (54-26), and U of R (49-21).

We'll also have roundups and interviews with coaches from other HWS sports, and we'll touch on national, regional and local sports, too.  And since this is a big tailgate party, we'll have some HWS alums over to share their wistful tales of yore!  :-)  If you're coming, make sure to stop by our tent!

It's all coming up Saturday September 25th at 5:30pm as part of the 2010 Homecoming Weekend at HWS!

Trust me.  This kid may look like a wimp with
that faux leather jacket and lame-ass ponytail.
But he will rock your ass off.  Seriously.
Starting this week, students return to the airwaves at WHWS!  We've got over 25 airshifts lined up, and more to come soon!

Check out the schedule and see who's on when, and if you're an HWS Student, pick a time to come in and do your OWN show so you can rock Geneva's airwaves!

"Welcome Back Students" Show Featuring Shwayze!

HWS Campus Activities Board is putting on a FREE SHOW on the Hobart Quad in the Bristol Field House on Saturday September 4th at 7:00pm featuring SHWAYZE and opening act Charm Face!

One word: AWESOME!!!  Probably just as well the show was moved to the Field House.  While the rain never really fell, it was pretty windy and it got downright cold out that night, with temps dropping to the low 50's.  But it was plenty hot in the Field House with Charm Face rocking a solid set and Shwayze whipping the crowd into an ecstatic frenzy!

We've been told there were over 1000 people at the show, and we have some pics for YOU!  Check out our Facebook page for 'em all!

And props to all the folks who showed up wearing the new WHWS lime and purple t-shirts!!!  :-)

Uncle Sam wants YOU to join WHWS!

Your Colleges' radio station needs you!  WHWS is Hobart and William Smith College Radio and that means it's student-run radio.   Students are the DJ's.  Students are the management.  It's by students, for students!

So how can you be involved?  Find out!  Come to the Opening General Meeting!

7:00PM in Coxe Hall Rm.008

See this Event on our Facebook Group!

No previous experience required - we'll train you!  All you need is a sense of fun!  Just bring yourself to the meeting - we'll do a short presentation about the station, answer any questions, have you fill out a quick one-page form telling us when you want a show, and get you signed up for training.   Training takes an hour or two, and then you're on your way to broadcasting to the masses!

  • Are you the friend that always has the latest new spins that you're pushing on all your friends?
  • Do you just love to talk?  I mean, like non-stop for six hours about anything and everything?
  • Are you an HWS sports fan?  You'll go see every game no matter the place or the weather?
  • Are you bent on ruling the world and you recognize that controlling the media is an important first step?
If you said YES to any of these, then WHWS is for YOU!

Whether you just want to come in and play music for an hour, or whether you want to be a sportscaster on any one of a 100 games (plus playoffs!) every season, or maybe you love to ham it up and perform on the public stage?   WHWS has a role for you!   Plus we have management jobs for people looking to gain valuable experience towards a career in radio or communications, and earn a few bucks along the way.

If you have questions, feel free to CONTACT THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR ahead of the meeting!
