The Decemberists Turn Yellow!!!!!!

From consequenceofsound.net

The Decemberists –easily the favorite band of Martin Prince – literally look like they will guest on a future episode of The Simpsons. Lead singer of the bookish troubadours Colin Meloy tweeted the above picture, saying “Oh wow. This is happening.” Also, guitarist Chris Funk looks amazing.

The Decemberists’ yellow likenesses will join the ranks of many musicians including Tom Waits, who is to scheduled appear on The Simpsons this season as well.

Day 1 of the Next 4 Years @ HWS

It's matriculation and orientation time for 607 new first-year students at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.  The first-years and their families waited in line to meet President Mark Gearan and his wife Mary.

To help past the time while waiting in line, WHWS was on hand to provide music and Douglas Reilly, the Program Director for the HWS Center for Global Education drew crowds of students, parents and HWS staff to take a look at the sun, it's flares, texture, and sun spots.  First year student Jack Schreck of Baltimore takes a look.

moe. - Coming To the Smith Opera House!

Friday, October 19, 2012 - 8:00pm-PRESENTED BY SARANAC BEER

moe. is an American jam band that was formed at the University of Buffalo in 1989.The band's first record Fat Boy (1992), established the band as a favorite of the 1990s jam band and improvisational rock scene that grew in popularity with bands such as Phish and Widespread Panic. Just as Grateful Dead  followers were coined "Dead Heads", avid moe. fans embrace the term "moe.rons." Moe. toured with the 1997 Furthur Festival, appeared at Woodstock '99, played Summerstage at the Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, opened for The Allman Brothers and The Who, performed at Radio City Music Hall on New Years Eve 2006 and returned there for New Year's Eve 2007. They have also performed at Bonnaroo Music Festival-5 times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2009) in the 10 year history of the festival.
During an interview, guitarist Al Schnier was asked to describe Moe for those who have never heard their music: "It's an amalgamation of a wide variety of the history of rock, all regurgitated and recycled through the eyes, ears, hands, whatever of the guys in our band and all of that with a sense of adventure, a sense of humor, also a constant desire to push the envelope. All in this arena of taking chances, improvising live, and making things up on the spot.
